Aluthgama Riots

Anti-Muslim riots in June 2014 resulted in 4 Muslim deaths and the injury of over 80 Muslims. Hundreds of Muslims were made homeless and destitute following attacks on their shops, factories, homes and mosques. 8,000 Muslims and 2,000 Sinhalese were displaced due to the riots that extended over several days.
